Kids don’t always know when they are thirsty, especially when they’re in the middle of playing with friends. It may surprise you to know that dehydration often occurs before a child realizes he or she is thirsty. For this reason, it’s important to prevent dehydration and recognize the signs of dehydration.
Parents have to be vigilant when it comes to keeping kids hydrated. Some of the telltale signs of dehydration are irritability, headaches, and nausea. To avoid dehydration, bring plenty of water with you and make sure active kids drink 1 cup of water before play, 1 cup every 20 minutes during play, and 1 ½ cup of water after play.
