How to Test for Hard Water in Your Home

    Last updated 1 year ago

Have you heard about hard water but are unsure whether it affects your home? “Hard water” is water in with a high mineral content and it should be treated before you use it in your home. Luckily, there’s a quick and easy way to test for hard water.

In this video, you’ll learn how to test for hard water using just a water bottle and a few drops of liquid dish soap. Start by filling the water bottle with your tap water and dish soap in the prescribed amounts, and then shake the bottle. If the water quickly becomes foamy and sudsy, you have nothing to worry about. If it looks milky or curdled but has no suds, you probably have hard water.

For solutions to your hard water problems, call Water Event at (972) 488-8100. We can set you up with bottled water delivery or water filtration systems that will help you avoid the problems of hard water.

How a Filtering System Offers the Advantages of a Water Cooler Without the Hassle

    Last updated 1 year ago

Have you been thinking about installing a water cooler, but don’t want to deal with heavy bottles, or are you looking for an alternative to the bottled water delivery you already have? Talk to your water delivery provider about the possibility of water filtration systems that use your existing water line. Using either reverse osmosis or carbon filtering systems, you can turn your tap water into cool, clean water for your office or home.

    Great-Tasting Water

Reverse osmosis and carbon filtering do a great job of purifying water, and because the filtering will happen on site, you (along with a representative from your water service) will have the opportunity to monitor the process. Some bottled water companies cut corners and don’t use true, purified mountain valley spring water. With on-site filtration, you won’t have to worry.

    No Scheduling or Heavy Bottles

Getting your water delivered in bottles can be a scheduling nightmare. Traditional water coolers also require changing the bottles––a tough task, since they’re quite heavy. By filtering your existing water line, you sidestep these extra sources of stress.

    Low Environmental Impact

Trucking bottles of water around isn’t great for the environment. The fuel for transportation, the bottling process, and the plastic for the bottles make for an expensive and inefficient process.

    Important Health Benefits

We all know that drinking lots of water is important for one’s health and appearance. By offering cool, refreshing water in a convenient cooler, you’ll be helping to provide a great office atmosphere. If drinking water helps your employees stay healthy, they just might need fewer sick days too!

If you’re interested in having a water cooler without heavy bottles, contact Water Event at (972) 488-8100. We’re pleased to provide our clients with pure water with our reverse osmosis filters and water filtration systems.

Learn What Fresh- Squeezed Lemon Juice In Your Water Can Do

    Last updated 1 year ago

In past posts, we've stressed how important it is to stay hydrated, especially during these cold winter months. Good hydration can help keep your skin and lips from becoming dry and chapped; good hydration can also help keep your mind focused on day-to-day tasks!

We'd like to share with you some of the healthy benefits that come from adding fresh-squeezed lemon juice to your water. Lemons are plentiful during the winter months and are quite easy to find.  The freshly squeezed juice of one lemon added to a 16 oz. bottle of water is great way to add that extra "kick" to your everyday hydrating!

    • Lemons (although considered an acidic fruit) have an alkalizing effect in the body.
    • Lemons are a great source of Vitamin C, and help boost your immune system against viral and bacterial attack - especially during the winter months when the common cold and flu seem to be on the rampage.
    • Lemons contain a phytonutrient called limonin, which may help fight cancer and lower cholesterol!
    • Adding a bit of lemon to your alkaline, ionized water adds a natural and healthy, refreshing "kick" to your water. Not only that, but it looks pretty, too!

Keep It Clean with a Shower Filtration Unit

    Last updated 1 year ago

Many of us drink water from a filtration system or from bottles for the improved taste or health benefits, but few of us consider using filtered water for showers. Because we generally don’t taste or ingest shower water, we don’t think about its purity. However, filtering your shower water  has significant benefits for your health and appearance. In this blog post, we’ll discuss how water filtration systems can keep you clean and healthy.

    Stay Healthy

Your health is the number one reason to use a shower filtration unit. Tap water is full of metals, minerals, and harsh chemicals, particularly chlorine. Absorbing too much of certain chemicals can harm your health. You actually take in more chlorine through your skin during your showers than you do by drinking chlorinated water, so filtration units for your showers may be even more useful than those for your drinking water. In addition to absorbing chlorine through your skin, the heat from you shower causes chlorine to vaporize, meaning that you’ll inhale it through your lungs. Chlorine gas is poisonous, and though the amount produced in your shower is extremely small in any circumstances, it may still cause irritation.

Keep Your Skin and Hair in Great Condition

Improving your appearance is another convincing reason to install a shower filtration system. The presence of harsh chemicals damages the look and feel of your hair and skin. If you dye your hair, this is especially important, because the chlorine will cause your hair color to fade. Over-chlorinated hair often feels brittle and dry. Too much chlorine can also dry your skin and cause irritation.
